THEY THE DAY WAS LONG WITH OUT ANOTHER FISH INTILL 2:30 PM. I GOT A DROT SHOT FISH IN 6 FEET OF WATER BUY EAST DAM WIEGHTING ABOUT 3LBS. OTHER ANGLERS SEEM TO BETTER WITH THE WINNING WIEGHT IN THE 22LB RANGER.OUR LITTLE WEIGHT OF 5.68LBS WAS BETTER THEN BLANKING.
1/12/08 Casitas Chris van Geest It was a tough one for some of us. We changed it from Piru because the sludge and debris on the water at Piru was so thick that it could have been detrimental to our motors. So it was decided to make the longer trip to Casitas. The day was beautiful, blue bird skies and no wind all day, but the fishing was the toughest I have ever experienced on Casitas, I personally did not get a bite, the closed I came was on my first cast right at the marina exit, I saw something boil on the point and threw a L.A. Slider to the point a nice bass followed it all the way to the boat but never took a bite at it. I stayed on that point for about an hour without an another follower or strike. I went to all my good spots threw the swimbait 60 percent of the day hoping for that lunker and fished worms, jigs and cranks the rest of the time from 3 feet to 70 feet to no avail.... Bass won AGAIN... LOL. Boy this sport can humble you...
But as always someone did find the fish as Dave Baker had 4 fish, Tod had 2 with a nice 3 pounder and Daryl had 1.
5/26/07 Diamond Valley Daryl Sarte Got to the lake late today. It was a little after 9a.m. when I got into one of their rental boats. Started out with jerkbaits in Rawson for an hour with no takers. There were shad around every bush. Made a move to the Quarry and fished the submerged brush with jigs and a dropshot. Caught three fish in the 2lb. range on the jig, nothing on the dropshot. The wind started to pick up about noon, then the bite died. Started fishing main lake points and caught 4 fish on a split shot and 2 on the dropshot. The biggest went 3.5lbs. Returned to Rawson to find fish busting shad on the surface. Tried jerkbaits, poppers, and walking baits for nothing. Switched to a tail spin, caught 2 and lost one at the boat. Ended the day at 4p.m.
5/16/07 Diamond Valley Roger Nelson

Water was clear to very clear, temperature was 66 at launch, skies were overcast with a slight breeze. Little boat traffic at launch.

Started fishing next to the intake station and decided that I'd try a topwater bait, cranks and a swimbait . I had a follower on the crankbait, but no takers. I saw lots of fish in the shallower areas, but couldn't entice them. I also tried a couple of colors of Senkos, to no avail. I then decided to move to the west dam. I threw a crankbait, and alternated with a Senko, but had no bites. I then decided to change colors on the Senko and tried a third. I got a smaller (2 pound-class) fish - my first Senko bass! I re-cast and got another (similar sized) fish soon thereafter. I continued to throw the Senko and got hammered by a fish that weighed in it was just under 5 pounds. A few minutes later I caught another that was just a little smaller (two ounces).

I then worked the area off the end of the dam, and there were many short fish (chasing my crank and spinner baits) but no larger specimens. I moved to an offshore hump and on my first cast with the Senko I caught a 4 ½ pound fish, and two or three casts later I had another slightly over 4 pounds. I left that area and got another just under 4 pounds, then another that was about 3 ½ pounds. By now, the wind had come up and the sun was out, so conditions had clearly changed. I had no more bites with that pattern. I worked some shallower areas with the spinnerbait, dropshot, shakey head , and Texas rig but couldn't locate any more active fish.

Total for the day was 11 fish, with 1 fish at 1 ½#, 3 @ 2 ½#, 2 @ 3 ½#, 3 @ 4 - 4 ½#, and two just under 5#. My largest 5 weighed in at over 22 pounds, on my XTools scale (which tends to be conservative).

5/12/07 Diamond Valley Roger Nelson

Water was very clear, temperature was 66 at launch, breezy and clear skies, moderate boat traffic. Checked out Rawson Canyon, and caught a few bed fish on the way out. Got another in the Quarry, then scared a decent fish along the wall. I made a long cast with my dropshot well past it, and caught a 4# which I believe was the same fish. Fished out front of the rearing pond and caught a 3# on a texas-rigged worm. Caught another dropshotting in a cut next to the pumping station. Caught another dropshot fish at the east end. Found a TON of fry, some were probably about 1/2# long, in a cut by Saddle Dam, and saw some big fish guarding them as I pulled up. Three were probably 5-6#, with a few more 2-3# fish in the area as well. Spent WAY too much time trying to get them to go, all for not. Water wamed up to 72 by end of day. All told, caught about 14 fish and had a good day. Wind blew all day, again.

Anglers Choice had a tournament there... winning weight was over 26#, with Art Berry (fishing solo) and Mitch Southern and Will Rakowitz both weighing in 23#+.

4/21/07 Diamond Valley Nate Selters Got to the lake at 8:30. Started out with reaction with no bites. Switched to the hud bug and first cast 2lb er. Next cast 5.5lber. Got 5 keepers on the drop shot 3 more on the shakey head. Left lake at 2:30. Total weight approx 18lbs. Good Fishing
3/27/07 Diamond Valley Peter Mossel Got to the Lake around 7:00 - there were already white caps on the lake. Fished by restroom 2 and caught a nice 3+ fish on a buzzbait and lost keeper at the boat, then went to the West Dam; caught 6 fish on a Drop shot and Jerk bait, and lost 2 fish at the boat. They closed the lake around 2:00pm
3/23/07 Diamond Valley Nathan Selters Got to the lake at 6:30. Water temp was 60 to 63.9. Started out with creature bait in Rawson Cyn. - picked up 3 keepers. Saw a few cruisers but no fish were locked on beds. Wind picked up about 10. Caught several 15" fish . Drop shot in the outhouse cut and got 3 fish over 4. Left about 3. Overall, a real good day.
3/04/07 Diamond Valley Chris van Geest / Chris Servello Great day at Diamond Valley, Chris Servello and I started a little late due to the WON tournament. Started fishing at about 6:60 AM. Went to my Jerk bait spot and in 15 min had 3 fish in the boat and then the jerk bite died. Tried for about an hour but no takers. We followed the north shore towards the dam and we both picked up 2-3 pounders on worms and a 4 pound trout (ended up on Chris Servello's BBQ). Continued fishing worms but the overall bite slowed. Traveled to the east dam and tried a swimbait but no takers, threw the jerk bait again and promptly hooked another nice 3 pounder, worked the shore line to the west towards to point. Saw Jason there and he fished the point pretty hard but then left. We took the point and caught 2-3 pounders and a very nice 4+ of that wall. Thanks Jason for leaving those fish for us... Day total 10 keeper bass and 1 nice trout
2/18/07 Diamond Valley Justin Davis / Nathan Selters We got to the lake at 7:00, there was hardly any parking spots left because of the National Bass tournament and also a fishing derby held by West Valley baseball. The day started off with a slight breeze and then turned into a hurricane. Nathan caught one fish 13 inches with a drop shot, then we pretty much ran around the lake for about 4 hours. He ended up catching another one about 3 pounds with (you guessed it) a drop shot. That was pretty much it. We suck , i hope your day was better than ours. So we ended up limiting out on a cheeseburger at pop's favorite burger joint, where he gets his fish fillets.
2/16/07 Diamond Valley Frank Gibson / Rick Ronstadt Weather - warm and clear ( 78 by noon ); Water - clear, 58degrees. Slight breeze throughout the day. Frank caught a 5.6lb.largemouth on a worm. Spotty overall, but did manage a few 13-15in. fish, mostly on the dropshot. Very light crowds.
2/10/07 Lake Piru Chris van Geest / Tom Odgers Tom Odgers (prospective new member) and I arrived at the lake 20 min before opening at 6:30 am, only one in line, was very surprised to see NO ONE from our club, or any one else there. We were the ONLY boat on the water for the first hour. The lake is 40 ft + below full pool and going lower every day. the water is very murky from the new launch ramp north but visibility was 3 or more ft at the dam. the weather was the best you could hope for - light winds in the morning, partly cloudy, cool but not cold. water temp was 51 at in the morning and 53 at 3 PM. the fishing was tough - I had about 5 pounds with the two keepers I caught and Tom had no keeper fish. The reaction bite was non-existant but spoons, jigs and worms caught fish.
01/21/07 Diamond Valley Randy Estrada / Chris van Geest We fished Diamond Valley for aprox. 4 hours Saturday 1-20-2007. Weather conditions : Bright sunny day, cold in the am, but quickly warming to 65 degrees. Water temp. 54.2 water clear to 5 feet. Started out with swimbaits without getting a bite or followers, continued with reaction baits cranks and jerks in minnow patterns and caught 4 keepers in about 2 hours the reaction bite turned off and the rest of the day we tried drop shotting, split shotting and spooning with one fish taken on a split shot. the lake was very busy with an ABA tournament and trout derby and a marathon race around the lake. Talked with Kyle and Rick Grover they said they had +/- 25 pound at 11 AM they where in the ABA tournament.
01/14/07 Diamond Valley Frank Gibson / Randy Estrada Freezing cold at launch, aprox.38degrees.( Forgot to bring the "Fish Hedz" ) Clear skies, water temp 56 degrees, Clarity was clear to 3ft. Started throwing swimbaits for first couple of hours with no results. Threw reaction baits, jerks, cranks, Randy picked up 2 keepers on Zipbait, purple/white, and then 2 on the MM 6in. on the drop shot. Anglers Choice Tourney same day, heard 22lbs. won it! (Editor's note: it was actually 26.06 pounds, won by Art Berry and Kyle Grover!)
12/30/06 Diamond Valley Chris van Geest / Roger Nelson Weather - Warm and clear; Water - moderately clear, 58 degrees; Chris caught a 4.88# LMB on a swimbait. Fishing was tough, with lots of boats on the water. Several fish seen, but only the single swimbait fish landed.
